This has nothing to do with people who capped the LA/SAN game and came to the conclusion that the Dodgers were the right side, or maybe that its a no play through your capping.

Im talking about the people who did feel like the pads were the correct side, but talked themselves out of a great play for the most dumb and stupid reasons you will ever hear.

"The game looks too good to be true" "I think this is a trap game" etc.....

Some people give way too much credit to the linemakers. Yes, they are damm good at what they do, and they deserve much respect. But at the same time they are not some supernatural beings from another world.

They are human just like you and me. They make bad lines from time to time.

Never jump away from the play because you think its too good to be true.

You cap a game, you establish line value, and you bet.

Trap games dont even exist.

Nice job tonight. Trap games do exist in other sports, but I think anyone who worries about them in baseball is fooling themselves.

Chop & Smartz Are Both Right On

I`ve argued this for yrs. "Trap" games are an urban legend. Do you think the books sit around and say "let`s put out a bogus line for this one maybe some stupid bastard will bet into it"? It just doesn`t work that way pal. We all do it, over think games. I know I have. Especially in foots. Do they "shade" lines for public tms i.e. ND, Dallas etc.? Sure, but any savvy bettor is aware of this.

Its funny that people think the books are so smart that they put out these trap lines. But at the same time think they are smarter than the incredibly sharp book maker by not falling for his tricks and betting opposite of what they feel is a trap line. Every guy who thinks like this ends up hitting around 50% by the end of the year.

Well, there's a lot of uncertainty over the definition of a trap line. The way I see it, when the oddsmakers post a true line, or even one shaded slightly towards the public team and it looks generous, that's a trap line. The oddsmakers have no intention of trapping people, as I think some people believe, but the general public is trapped by accurate lines like Colts -1 @ Jaguars or a ranked college basketball team +2 against an unranked home team.

I agree with every single one of you guys.

Trap games is bullshit.

Why waste the time capping a baseball game and finding a line thats 30% off the real number and then saying to yourself. Damm, that line is too good to be true, I think I am going to take my strongest play and fade myself.

How dumb is that people?

These sportsbooks do not have super powers. They dont know the outcome of the game beforehand anymore than you and me.

Gotta love when people get on their soapbox after the game is over and suddenly start preaching. And everyone said Amen.

Also gotta love the fact that if this lead doesn't hold up, the conspiracy theorists will come out in droves. The drama of the RX. Priceless.

Im not backing him because the game won> Ive backed my feeling on the subject every time someone has come into one of my threads with stuff like "you got a square bet 80% public on this one". "you bet right into the trap good luck with that". I honestly feel its a horrible way to go about capping a game.

Gotta love perfect people such as yourself that has nothing better to do than talk down to people.

You strike me as a very arrogent SOB that has the answers to everything.

We are having a friendly conversation here.

Kinda like what this forum was started for.

But there always seems to be someone that comes in and attempts to crash the party.

No matter how this game turns out, there is no such thing as a trap game.

I was not on a soap box till you came in here.

Sorry you feel that way, but I'm the furthest thing from arrogance. Also sorry that you claim to be in a lighthearted mood, but can't take a lighthearted comment without getting offended.

Oh I cant take the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 10th comment. But you seem to have a smart remark about everything I say and do.

The straw finally broke the camels back tonight.

I try not to read all the crap before I bet but I don't come around looking for love either during or after the games.

I won more than your whole season with the pads tonight ...And didn't even bet them straight.

Good job! go to bed!

I don't disagree with you, I just get a kick out of people starting threads immediately after they think the outcome has been decided. Goes to show that they themselves had a lot of doubt beforehand.

Don't go bigbet1234 on me. I have nothing against you, and honestly have no idea what 10 other comments you are talking about.

wow....just got home. You are beyond pathetic.

Now I have figured out the hatred from you. You are the poster child of this thread. This is exactly what I am talking about. You yourself said the Pads should be -135, but yet made you game of the year on the DODGERS

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->First of all guys I am not chasing I am about to be 1-4 for the night but this game and the line movement has opened my eyes for this one. We have a potential Cy Young canditate in Chris Young pitching against the dodgers. On the other side Kuo who is 1-3 and a ERA of 6 will take the hill. The line IMO is ridiculous. Young should be at -135 or more. If there is such thing as a trap well here it is. Everyone and their mommas will be on Diego tonight. While I take my "Doyers"

Young 0-2 against LA this season. Kuo has gotten his ass kicked against the AL but has pitched rather well against NL teams...
